WHAT IS A BB CREAM?

29 Oct, 2012

Jane Iredale BB Cream Glow Time

When jane iredale bought out their Glow Time BB Cream I have to admit I had never heard of a BB Cream before! Now there is so much hype out there about these creams I wanted to investigate to see what BB creams are all about. According to the ever so trustworthy Wikipedia, a BB Cream stands for Blemish Balm or Blemish Base and apparently is a cosmetic item sold in Korea. Well it has well and truly hit our shores now. Jane Iredale have a BB cream called Glow Time. It is a foundation, sunscreen, moisturiser and primer all in one. I am not one to use a primer on a regular basis so was curious as to how this cream was going to feel on my skin.

Jane Iredale Amazing Base I normally wear on a daily basis the Amazing Base (loose powder) from Jane Iredale with a pump of the Liquid Minerals underneath. I love the Liquid Minerals because it leaves my skin so silky and hydrated. I have dry skin so I need all the moisture I can get. The Amazing Base does not contain talc, so is not drying at all on the skin. Used alone, it actually leaves the skin quite luminous, which is not typical of a powder foundation. So I tried the BB Cream Glow Time and I am hooked! Not only does it leave my skin super hydrated, but it leaves just a slightly more silky feeling to the skin than the Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals. The great thing about the jane iredale BB Cream is that the coverage is fantastic. It gives the best coverage out of all of the jane iredale foundations. I did squeeze out way too much from the tube on first application, as I was not aware you only need the tiniest amount. Not even the size of a pinky fingernail!

Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals - The trick is to dot the product on an area such as the forehead and blend that in before starting on a new area. I used it on my eyelids no problems. The Glow Time BB Cream is numbered as such, BB3, BB5, BB7, BB9 and BB11. I am normally a Satin in the loose powder and I found the BB5 too light for me. The BB7 is just OK, I probably would be spot on with BB6 if jane iredale ever brings this out. I hope so, as I have found a lot of my clients would also benefit from a BB6. Generally though, if you are a Golden Glow or Suntan in the jane iredale Foundations, you would be a BB7. The sunscreen in the BB cream is spf 25 and all of the jane iredale Sunscreen products have a 4 hour water resistant rating. Good to know! I highly recommend the jane iredale Glow Time BB Creams it tops the lot for me!
