HOW TO ACHIEVE FLAWLESS MAKE UP COVERAGE EVERYTIME
Whether you are a regular make up user or not, or you use make up to cover or enhance, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to apply your make up and achieve a flawless coverage every time with ease? I certainly don't have time to be fooling around with make up that makes my skin look crepy or make up that doesn't sit right on my skin. I want to know that each and every time I apply make up it will enhance my skin not make it look like I have just put a mask on.
I want to share with you my top 5 tips on achieving a flawless make up coverage every time.
There is no use using a make up primer if you are not regularly removing excess dead skin cells on the skins surface. If you do not exfoliate, no amount of primer will give you a smooth flawless finish. We have to prime the skin before make up hits the skin. As a general rule of thumb, exfoliate the skin at least once a week. Use a granular scrub such as our Skin Matrix AHA Exfoliating Scrub or if you have a really sensitive skin or facial redness, try the Osmosis Polish or the Cosmedix Pure Enzymes. Removing dead skin cells not only allows your make up to glide on the skin, it will minimize pores, and stop your make up from sitting in small dehydrated facial lines that can make the skin look crepy. Your skin care will work more effectively with regular exfoliation too.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Using a moisturiser that is not hydrating enough for your skin will not prime the skin properly for make up to sit flawlessly on the skin. A suitable moisturiser for your skin type will not make you break out, it will create a perfect make up base. I have many clients who instead of using a make up primer use our Skin Matrix CoQ10 Rosehip Facial Oil for their photo finish make up application. 1 pump is all you need into your favourite moisturiser. Good bye crepy age creating lines!
If you still feel after the above 2 tips that you are wanting to minimize the appearance of your pores or your make up still doesn't sit 110% on the skin; a make up primer could be for you. Choose mineral primers as they will not make you breakout or clog up your pores. Apply a small amount before your mineral foundation or powder. Some primers even assist in brightening the skin and controlling oily shine.
Brush or fingers? I personally prefer applying my foundation with fingers as the warmth of my skin blends the foundation on the skin quicker and with less product than a brush. The look will be different so experiment and see what you prefer. We have some lovely foundation brushes to choose from.
Brush or sponge for applying powders? I find that a sponge will smooth over enlarged pores better than a brush will. I feel personally the brush is a better solution as it is quicker and easier to keep clean and I find the coverage not as heavy as using a sponge. Totally up to you to experiment and see what works best.
At this point you should have the perfect make up application. Mineral make up is quiet forgiving in the fact that you can layer the coverage to suit your coverage needs. Acne or redness you can layer to achieve the flawless finish you are after. Mineral powder contains no talc (if the product is genuinely 100% minerals not just 5%) which can be drying on the skin. If your powder contains talc then layering will make your powder look more of a mask than a natural finish.
Try the tips above, try different methods of application and adjust hydrating the skin as needed. Experiment and you will find your photofinish coverage!
