HOW TO MANAGE DARK CIRCLES UNDER EYES

HOW TO MANAGE DARK CIRCLES UNDER EYES

If you are prone to dark circles under your eyes, chances are you have tried multiple products and remedies to try to combat them. You may notice that the darkness under your eyes may seem darker some days than others, and may have also found some active ingredients that help. But what causes this darkening, and what are the best ingredients to use?

Dark circles under the eyes, are normally caused by being tired, or can even be due to shadows that are being cast by the puffiness of your eyelids. As we age, it is normal to develop hollows under the eyes, and this too can make our undereye appear darkened. There are also other conditions that can lead to this frustrating concern including Contact Dermatitis, Dehydration, Rubbing or Scratching your eyes, Sun exposure ( this encourages your body to produce more melanin, the pigment that gives skin its colour ) and even some allergies.

To ensure your eye area is light and bright, it is important to first establish the cause of your dark eye circles. Your Doctor or skin therapist may be able to assist you with this, and advise the best direction to take, however using certain ingredients will also help to give you that undereye glow you are after.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C can be effective as it contains ascorbic acid one of the potent ingredients to help reduce dark eye circles. It helps to reduce the appearance of dark spots, and dark circles and gradually improves the under-eye area by providing even-toned, bright skin.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid will hydrate and plump up the skin cells, giving you a youthful and radiant glow. Hyaluronic acid attracts and binds to water molecules and increases the water content of the skin by drawing moisture from the deeper levels of your skin and bringing that goodness to the surface. So plump up that skin baby, as it can help to mask the darkness under the eyes.

If the dark eye circles are due to pigmentation, then you want to look for ingredients with brightening effects. Products containing vitamin C, hydroquinone, and kojic acid tend to work well. Also, reach for products with retinol in them because retinol can help a person even out pigmentation over time, but remember to protect your skin each day from the damaging UV rays so you don’t jeopardise all that hard work your active ingredients are doing for your skin.
